Sample Tour 1

DURATION: 1 Day

BurfordStarting in Oxford, we travel out to the town of Burford with its long and steep High Street, then onto Bourton-on-the-Water, famous for its model village and river running through the town. Next, we head onto the villages of Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter, famous for its working watermill.

The tour then continues past the Cotswold Farm Park onto Snowshill (home of Snowshill Lavender Farm and Snowshill Manor). From Snowshill, we drop down into the village of Broadway, the location of the Lygon Arms Hotel, Gordon Russell furniture and Broadway Tower. From Broadway, it is a short drive up Fish Hill, back into the Cotswold Hills towards Chipping Campden, with its Market Hall, impressive wool church and 14th century, curved High Street. Chipping Campden is also the setting of The Campden Wonder story, a 17th century murder mystery.

From Chipping Campden, the tour continues to the old wool town of Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in The Cotswolds. Stow-on-the-Wold is located on the Fosse Way, an old Roman road. After visiting Stow-on-the-Wold, we return to Oxford, the end of the tour.

Other places that can be visited on the tour instead of any of the above include Blenheim Palace, Snowshill Manor, Hidcote Gardens, Kiftsgate Gardens and the village of Bibury (subject to time constraints).

A minimum of eight people is usually required to run each tour. A smaller number of people may still request a tour to run, but this would incur an additional cost (per person) over our standard tour charges.
